Nicaraguan Eagle

Nicaraguan Eagle

This Barrel Aged coffee is a Nicaraguan coffee from the Jinotega region. The coffee is aged in a freshly dumped Eagle Rare bourbon barrel.  I chose the coffee since it is fairly "simple".. low acidity, medium body, and subtle natural flavors so the barrel aging could come through. I thought it would be a good first batch to show how the barrel aging really effects the coffee.

All Time Favorite

Love, love, love the the undertones of the wood barrel flavors in this coffee. Waiting (not so) patiently for it to come back in stock. Definitely my all time favorite.

Nicaraguan Eagle

I just tried it this weekend, I enjoyed it but rest of my family did not. I enjoyed the coffee because it had a taste like a Irish coffee, it seems to have whiskey taste that's why it reminds me of it and that's why the rest of family did not like. I did add some cream in my wife's and then she enjoyed it.

Unique flavor

Just starting to try these type of coffees, and enjoyed the interesting flavor. Got whole bean and ground myself. Will definitely get again.

I should have ordered more...

I'm new to the whole craft coffee scene, but I have to say this is one delicious cup of brew. I'm looking forward to the next release for sure.

Very interesting flavors

This is my first foray into barrel-aged coffee and was taken back at how distinct the flavors were. You can definitely pick up on the wood flavors and the barrel aging does something to the sweetness. Almost tastes like a honey washed bean. I liked it although Nicaraguan el dorado and the dark roast are still my favorites.
